Thinking of you everyday.
So sad tonight to learn that a friend of mine passed away this week. Gregory H. Kahn was in my class all through [Crawford] elementary school and was in my homeroom at Welch Jr. High until his family moved to the east coast.
I'm not sure that he thought of me as a friend back then (probably more like the girl who drove him crazy!), but when we reconnected on Facebook a few years ago, he treated me like an old friend. I was so glad to get to know him a little as an adult.
Please join me in keeping his family in your prayers, especially his wife and his adorable little boy Benjamin who's not quite two yet.
Greg's memory will forever be a blessing to you. Friendships such as yours come very rarely in life.
I just learned Greg passed. Truthfully,we were not close. A million years ago we were both on our high school newspaper the Black and White and he came to my house to shoot hoops a couple of times. We both have had a lifelong love of The Boss. Really it is through the strangeness of FB that I felt in some small way that I got strong impressions of who he was and how he lived his life. Huge smile and heart and a super happy daddy and husband. Reading the posts from everyone it is clear he was a true friend to many and was loved by all. I hope he would be ok with me saying that we should all never take one day of our lives for granted and see it for the gift it really is. Greg, you will be missed.
I just found out about the passing of a special friend from high school, someone who especially helped me survive freshman year. Gregory H. Kahn was the new kid from Iowa, and I sat right behind him and next to Jonathan Eisen in Language Writing Workshop, which became my all-time favorite class during my four years at Whitman because of the good times we all had together. He taught me so much about topics I knew nothing about, including baseball, M*A*S*H, giving speeches, Richard Cohen, sports writing, just to name a few. We went our separate ways after high school, then reconnected thanks to Facebook, enjoyed reminiscing about the good old days of WWHS and the Black and White, and celebrated one another's life events virtually from that point onward. I am truly, deeply, heartbroken for his family and close friends. He will be greatly missed.
