Greg was a wonderful friend to my two older sons, both in good times and bad. He stopped at our house almost every morning before school, even though it was slightly out of his way. He was a regular participant in the Strat-o-matic Baseball games that took place in our basement, and came to Long Island with us one summer to continue the marathon games. When my husband died in 1987, Greg flew back to Bethesda from college in Texas to be here for Mike and Jon, making a difficult time a little bit easier. I could never have imagined that we would be trying to ease the pain for his family one day. And even though it was my sons who brought him to our house, I also considered him a friend. He was fun and interesting to talk to, and always seemed to have a smile. I was happy to let him stay with us one summer after his parents moved away from Bethesda. Although I never met Melissa or Benjamin, I hope that they know how many people were touched by Greg. I am terribly sorry for their loss. Like many others, I will miss him.
